Go See The Island

No, really. It’s awesome. BEAUTIFULLY shot, intense, enjoyable, and probably the best production design i’ve seen in a film lately. I didn’t even want someone to hit Scarlett Johanson in the head… much. Sitting in the theater, I couldn’t help thinking that it’s a shame that director/producer Michael Bay gets such short shrift from the Hollywood elite (despite DESTROYING everyone at the box office). The again, The Island is one of the few films I recall him doing that didn’t have Jerry Bruckheimer producing, and if this film is any evidence of what Bay can offer as his own producer (or what an absent Bruckheimer does to change the overall film) then I hope to see more of a solo Michael Bay.

What a great movie. (And bonus points for a V For Vendetta trailer. Sweet action).

I plan to see it. The trailer was beautiful.

Then again, the trailer also gave away 80% of the plot.

Michael Bay is doing the Transformers movie that will come out in 2007. But it’s being produced by Speilberg, so maybe that won’t be as bad as Bruckheimlickmyballsyousuckass.

The same guys who did the screenplay for The Island also did The Transformers screenplay. So far, all the elements are lining up to make for an interesting movie.

But it will probably suck, since Hollywood is slowly but surely destroying my childhood memories. I’m just waiting for them to take on and screw up G.I.Joe. I can see it now, “Brad Pitt as DUKE! Vin Diesel as DESTRO! Samuel L. Jackson as COBRA COMMANDER!” Ugh. I think I might vomit.

They’re making a Smurfs movie too. Yeah. Its gotten that bad. I know that history repeats itself, and that there is nothing new under the sun — but I mean … seriously.

“Pacino as GARGAMEL! Morgan Freeman as PAPA SMURF!”

Well, I read a rumor that a studio bought the rights to Voltron, so get ready to watch your childhood get thrown over the back of the sofa and get ramed up the ass.

So eloquent. So true. So sad.

… H.R. Puff’N'Stuff, New Zoo Revenue, Great Space Coaster, Muppets (ah, Muppets), Land of the Lost … I can’t even remember movies I grew up with (born in 72, if that’s any indication - I don’t think there were any good “kids” shows in the 70s)
