Have you been following these sub sites and the Hanso site at all? Supposedly they’re going to keep this going all summer long. Not sure how they could though without out giving too much of the story away.
Interesting though they are introducing a whole different angle to the island through the Hanso Corporation and someone on the inside providing hacks to people going under the psuedo name Persophone.
if you rotate the mouse around the compass end then end up in the south east a map with numbers will appear around the compass and then you can double click and it takes you to another part where the computer dialogue like that in the hatch comes up and you can reply to its question with a Y or N. each leading to its own link. so i have no idea how i figured it out at first. i was just clicking really bc i thought i had broke it. lol
it is the picture of the intro woman on the hanso site and she is there to give you a hint on where to turn the compass. If you put the circle of the logo around her face, then you are pointing at 108 degrees. Dig deep enough in the usr/ directory and you will find several references to “the mouth piece”. You also might find a new text entry area somewhere on the hanso bio sheet. May I suggest you connect those two items of info together.
All these sub-sites are corporate marketing tactics. And to be honest, kinda turning me off to Lost. The first one was Sprite with it’s OB:EY, and now this one is Daimler Chrysler, or Jeep as Paul said. I would be willing to bet exactly ZERO information about the storyline will be revealed in any of these sites.
I was trying to determine where 108 degrees was (as my mouse wasn’t changing to a clickable hand) and then I remembered the oldest Flash trick in the book.. hit Tab and it highlights clickable areas (assuming the developer didn’t turn it off). They didnt. Super handy.
The marketing tie-in doesn’t bother me. It is a fictional TV show after all - not a documentary.
Noah, the side sites have so far, always contained a passcode for use back at the hanso foundation site. While it is true that each of the sites have been connected with a sponser at some level (it wasn’t overly obvious on the sprite one) that isn’t needed to tell you you won’t get a lot of story line on these sites.
They are a side route, not the primary pathway. They are not going to confuse their TV audience just because they don’t do all the web stuff. What it is there for, and what it is doing is providing details to certain things that help build the back plot.
Lets cover a few things that have come from the online data:
1. There are definitely people off the island and involved in modern society.
2. These people are actively involved in a number of morally questionable experiments including mental health, magnetics, and genetics.
3. The leaders of this group are themselves shrouded in mystery. The CEO has been missing for 4 years. The apparent heir to the leadership seems to have lied about his education and claims to be a doctor despite having no confirmed record of education and one of the execs who claims to have high moral character has been travelling around europe with a mistress spending large sums of money.
4. There is a confirmed third group of people, rebels, who know about Hanso/Dharma but are fighting against them.
I can’t think of any more at this point, but we are only 3 weeks into this and it is suppose to last all summer.

It was bound to happen… corporate marketing tie-ins, especially for such a willing audience.
