Amen, Steve. Amen.
How old is that? Looks to be (by the hair) about 10+ years. I think he would say the same thing today, only with more poignancy and less pointed negativity.
Why is it that Mac people are so threatened by Microsoft. I have both a Mac and PC and enjoy both. They both have their issues. I just find it funny that the Mac world loves to hate on Microsoft. Why don’t they just use their Macs and be happy?
This is not in reference to you Joshua. More in reference to the entire trendy Mac/blog world. The super hipster that takes his sleek looking Mac laptop to the coffee shop while he listens to indy music and writes about how much he hates Microsoft and pushes for everybody to hate Microsoft with him instead of just enjoying his Mac and leting smart consumers make their own decisions on why platform they decide on.
…just a rant.
David, I’m with you. I don’t hate Microsoft, nor am I threatened by them. But I do dislike using their products, and so I avoid it. I find that the way their products function works against me and not for me. If someone enjoys using the MS OS everyday, awesome…. enjoy.
What I find interesting is that a company with so much money can’t seem to produce products on time, continues to release sub-par products, and generally (as Jobs said) just has bad design taste. (Design being more than decoration… design being functionality and user experience and visual cues.)
Everybody needs a Great Satan, even lovers of shiny pretty things. I mean, Dells – they look so sinister! Save us from the Great Satan, Steve! SAVE AMERICA, STEVE JOBS!!!
I agree Joshua. I grew up using MS products, and I actually preferred them over OS 9 and below. But with the launch of OS X, I couldn’t help but switch to a mac and never look back. It just is SO intuitive and easy to use. I’ve said that, “Whatever you want to do on a mac, you can do. Whatever you want to do on a “PC”, you have to learn how to do it.”
It seems to me that MS has always copied Apple. MS copied the old Mac OS with Windows. Apple launched OS X, and now they are coping again with Vista. MS seem to be a few steps behind Apple, the thought leaders, in the consumer computing world.
It seems, to me, that Mac culture is more about defining what it is NOT. This type of identity reminds me of jr high school.
(as I type this I’m listening to the Cardigans on my iPod on a train. The person in the seat across the isle has one too. hehe.)
