Use Gmail to Send and Receive Non-Gmail

Gmail users: go to Settings > Accounts > Get mail from other accounts > add another mail account. With this new Mail Fetcher feature, you can now send and receive email from non-Gmail accounts from within the Gmail interface, which pretty much makes it perfect for me. (Nothing new, just new to Gmail.)

I just noticed this the other day, it’s really neat, if only it worked with non-POP accounts though. I’ll ask your advice, since you know way more about the web than I. I use a yahoo account for work (don’t ask why), and I would love to not check it through yahoo, mostly because of all the spam and lack of a decent filter. Any ideas?

Yea, is it not possible to enable pop access in Yahoo! without paying $19.95 a year?

Dang, yeah – I tried to import my Yahoo! account as well, because I’d really rather stop using it.

When I entered my Yahoo! email account, it automatically suggested three different POP servers, but none of them worked. I put in my proper user name/password, and it said it was wrong.

Stupid Yahoo! – let me take my mail elsewhere.

Yahoo Mail Beta is pretty slooow loading on my computer, drives me loco. The only redeeming quality about Beta is the the purple-vested man doing whatever he does ever 3 weeks or so.
