The Children of Húrin was begun by J. R. R. Tolkien in 1918 and has recently been completed by Tolkien’s son, Christopher. The book releases on April 17 and takes place in a pre-Lord of the Rings Middle-earth. You are now free to geek out.
Holy Golam.

You can’t post here unless you have:
1.) Read the Silmarillion in its entirety.
2.) At least perused the Lay of Beleriand, Unfinished Tales, and the War of the Jewels.
3.) Know who Húrin is, and why his child(ren) would be the one (some) of most important people in Middle Earth.
Does anyone know if it’s going to be a narrative or a novel?

so, can i just say that i might cry?
the story about hurin is probably the most under-rated thing which tolkein wrote and probably one of my favorite stories of the silmarillion. (nothing can beat beren and luthien).

Actually, the correct(er) answer to #3 is Turin Tarambar is prophesied to kill Morgoth at the end of time.
Close enough, though.
I agree with joonitree, the narrative stands as one of Tolkien’s best tragic stories. Heartbreaking.
