I'm a curious, creative, Southern boy working in Anderson, SC. My corner of the internet is brought to life thanks to friendly cowboys at Eleven2 Hosting. If you're new here, you might be interested in the RSS Feed or Archives. You can say hello via .

I spent the better part of the last few days getting Save the Trinity launched for the Trinity Commons Foundation here in Dallas. This is the first “Built By Blankenship” site I’ve done in quite some time. My coding is rusty, but it’s nice to build one from the ground-up every once in awhile. (Look for an updated portfolio sometime this summer.)

Songbird, a sort of open-source version of iTunes, is really starting to come into its own. It plays dektop media content, as well as web-based content. Check out the screencast to see some features. (And much like Firefox, developers are creating add-ons and extensions to make the app better.)

Illustrator Thomas Haddad’s Bus Drawings Project was “produced while riding commuter busses.” I dig it.

I heart Matt Curry (aka NinjaCruise), espcially when he is drawing The Batman.

A modified Moleskine® notebook plus a spare 80gb harddrive equals The Geekster Moleskine DIY external harddrive. Approximately 25 people have emailed me this in the past day, thus cementing its fun factor and our nerdery.

Smell That Temporary Freedom

Today I am swimming in a sea of work-to-freelance transitions, laptop-to-desktop transitions (and the ensuing email/file woes), good friends in town, pre-wedding to-do lists, getting ready for another wedding shower, and a web project with a slightly silly short timeline. It is sunny and 70º in Dallas right now and despite the busy-ness, all is well and it sort of feels like a Saturday.

Related sidenote: anyone know an outgoing email server for at&t/yahoo DSL?

This photo is amazing and continues to revel layers of its awesomeness to me on repeat viewings.

Last Day at TM, Chick-Fil-A, YouTube, and You

Today is my last day at t:m Advertising. In celebration, my coworkers have decided to see me off “in a style that honors the way he lived.” (according to the email that was sent out.) And by that they of course mean a BYO-Chick-Fli-A lunch and group YouTube video watching in one of the conference rooms.

Any YouTube gems that we should add to our watch-list? (We’re eating in 35 minutes, so think/post fast.)

VIRBº quietly rolled out the Blog Import feature yesterday, enabling users to import any external blog by entering the RSS feed of said blog. So, everything that shows up here will now show up on my VIRBº blog automatically. Nifty.

Sean Sperte does a fantastic job of explaining what Twitter is and giving some resources, too. (My boss-for-one-more-day Todd also put it succinctly: “Twitter. Completely stupid. Completely addictive.”)

Le Blogotheque: The Take Away Shows are (free) downloadable one-take live concerts from various artists (Andrew Bird, The Shins, My Brightest Diamond, The National, Mojave 3, etc.) typically filmed in various urban environments and available as high-quality .mov and .mp4 files. I love the way they’re shot and the simple, well-executed idea of it all. I also love the big typography, general art direction, and site layout.

Quote, “[MySpace] hurts my eyes. There’s way too much advertising and they’re not really respecting their own community.” Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales as a sidenote to this interview. What a fantastic way to put it. It’s almost like MySpace doesn’t think everyone will just up and leave if they continue disrespecting their own users through advertising and sub-par site performance.

Daring Fireball on Panic’s just-released web development app Coda and why the stripped-down, less-is-more (even in one app) nature of Coda may be its best strength. Great article.
