The drive we took from our first hotel (best hotel I’ve ever stayed at) to our current hotel on the other side of Maui is probably the best Google map ever. So fun.
wow… that has to be quite a scenic drive…. 3.5 hours for 77 miles!?!? sweet moses malone!

The Road to Hana (from Kahului Airport to Hana) is crazy curvy with copious amounts of one lane bridges, narrow roads, and tourists driving rented convertible Mustangs. It takes awhile, but it’s nice.
From Kahului to the west side of the island, the drive is a lot like the Pacific Coast Highway, only you’re 10′ or so above sea level and right beside the ocean – we drove it at sunset and it was breathtakingly gorgeous.

My wife had to get the requisite “I survived the Hana Highway” t-shirt after we did that drive :-)
When we did it, there was a van, or truck, or something that looked as if it went off the road at one point and was caught in vegetation, just hanging off the side of the drop-off. Pretty surreal…

Hey Shua, if you check out the Haliakala Crater Morning Sunrise you can catch that image I sent you several years ago. And a most excellent Sunrise!

Yeah, just remember to wear something warm if you go up to the crater – I never thought I’d need a jacket in Hawaii…
