Sure, but I think it could come in handy when you need some immediate blog-love sitting at a red light.
I think it would be better to have it as an option–like the whole m.domain.tld thing. Browser sniffing seems like a questionable choice.
If the EDGE network operated at maybe 20% faster speeds it wouldn’t be necessary but since it doesn’t.. having an alternate mobile version (even for iPhone) is preferred.
Agreed, but you have to realize what a POS the EDGE network is on AT&T. I think I go both ways on the fact that yes, Safari is supposed to be a “full browser,” however I think the iPhone would be better fitted on a “full network” like EvDO or WiFi. So, who the hell knows…

So someone has written a WordPress plugin that detects Mobile Safari and then serves up a iPhone-specific style theme. Doesn’t that sort of defeat the purpose of the fact that Mobile Safari is a full browser?
