I'm a curious, creative, Southern boy working in Anderson, SC. My corner of the internet is brought to life thanks to friendly cowboys at Eleven2 Hosting. If you're new here, you might be interested in the RSS Feed or Archives. You can say hello via .
Being a newlywed with a decent chunk of change left to pay off in student loan debt (still less than the national average though, which is scary), I’m always on the lookout for financial tips, especially in terminology I can easily understand. Here’s a list of some sites and resources that have been pushing us in the right direction: Dave Ramsey, The Simple Dollar, Get Rich Slowly, Wise Bread, Mighty Bargain Hunter, Lazy Man and Money, and The Sun’s Financial Diary. If you know of others, please comment it up.
Sit down with your Edward Jones guy! We did that last week and it was quite enlightening.

I’d add clearcheckbook.com to the list. You can text in ledger entries.

I would also add the “widely popular website” http://www.JoeSangle.com for all eaasy to use downloadable tools for budgeting, debt calculation, etc. I like most of his stuff better than Dave Ramsey though Dave gives a great foundation!

Guessing at the traffic levels that this site likely experiences, you may want to consider throwing a couple ads our way. Knowing that you could use a little extra cash, I’m sure most of us wouldn’t mind a google ad or two. It won’t solve any cash problems, but 20 minutes of setup could net you a few hundred a year (of passive income) … give it some thought.

I based much of my debt management from Dave Ramsey’s general outlook on the subject. It was the most basic and align with my gut sensibilities. Clark Howard is a great “tips and tricks” kind of guy who has some decent connections to finding good deals http://www.clarkhoward.com. When you’re ready for investing I’d recommend checking out Clark’s recommendations for no load funds. I think Mint.com has a really slick tool to replace Quicken but I don’t regularly connect with their blogs. But that’s me. Only me.

[...] Everyone seems to be searching for “tips for getting out of debt”, and thankfully, there are debt-free folks that are out there and WILLING to help! DebtConsolidationStrategy, TheMoneyBlog, DebtLowdown, ZenHabits, Blankenship, and TimeToBudget, all have very good posts that are willing and showing people the best strategies to take. Read them carefully and most importantly you need to THINK before you make that next big purchase because it is NOT the amount you’ll be in debt, but amount FURTHER you’ll be in debt if you don’t pay it off first! After that, it is an easy decision of just finding places to stash your money in your OWN pocket and building wealth! [...]
