Zachary Quinto, his face, I don’t like it. He seems like someone who stole your book-bag in Junior High and you were all, “I know it was you, Quinto!” and he’s all, “I swear.” and then the next day he shows up with a book-bag that looks just like your book-bag except now it has a Rancid sticker on it.
The rest of the cast seems okay to me. Wasn’t Matt Damon supposed to be Kirk? I’m glad they went with a more “no name” cast.
Quinto sucks.
Simon Pegg as Scotty… hmm. Well, they say that comedians are some of the best ‘serious role’ actors, so we’ll see.
Ohhh – blue today. Will tomorrow hold another color?
Scotty isn’t a “serious role”. Pegg will be comic relief, count on it. I applaud casting him in the role, and will now place the movie in the “must see on or near release date” category. Also, genius throwback movie poster.
I’m a huge Karl Urban fan and I think this is great casting. He’s got this wonderful glare that he does, perfect for those times he gets annoyed with Kirk. He’s gonna have to smoke a few more cigars though, to get that gravelly voice that Kelley had. I’m more concerned about Pegg as Scotty, but Anthony might be right, if they’re using him for comic relief it might work well. I can foresee a lot of laughs with Pegg. The rest of the actors cast, I don’t know well enough to comment and that bothers me too; I think there should have been at least one or two really big crowd-pulling names in there.
J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Cast
Tue 10/23/07
The upcoming J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek prequel has been cast. The mental picture of Karl Urban saying, “Dammit, Jim…” makes me laugh like a little schoolgirl.
