Should I Renew A Randomly-Named Domain?

I need your help. I received the following via electronic mail this week:

This is your last chance to renew your domain name(s)! YOU MUST RENEW BY Mar. 29, 2008 OR THE DOMAINS LISTED BELOW WILL BE CANCELLED.

BASTARDBEAR.COM

Should I renew it? Please comment with a firm “yes” or “no” and any reasons why you feel so.

Addendum to provide further complication: my newly acquired (via marriage) nephew is thus named “Behringer” aka “Bear.” He is not sans father. Conundrum.

    Carry on.

    No.

It’s like a shirt you’ve had for 2 years and still have the tag on. You won’t use it, just let it fly for someone else to enjoy.

Would you be embarrassed to share it in front of your church or the youth group there?

If so, I would say no.

    Yes, of course.

You should make a mock website promoting the adoption of bastard born bears abandoned in Yellowstone.

    Or something.

    All possibilities of silliness await.

I think you should ask you nephew what he thinks. Maybe he will have a practical use for it someday.

Ok, here is what I am thinking… you can use this site as a way to both promote silliness and promote collaboration. Any project ideas that are abandoned mid-progress are the bastard bears. People have the chance to post projects and ideas for other people to critique and run with if they so choose. If you need a steady stream of silly thoughts or stories, I would be more than happy to supply you with some. Just give it a thought.

if it’s no financial hardship to renew, you should do it. you never know when you’ll need to park a site at its own domain. and what a domain!

    Actually, Berenger.

And I agree with Joonitree. Although, refrain from actually using “the word”.

I think that this “bear” has already been abandoned by his father, so abandoning him at this point would just be further perpetuate the cycle. Why not prove the system wrong and build him a website. Build him a glorious site that shows him that even though he may not know his father, he still has friends… friends with mad design skills.

of course you should… maybe u could even use it as the official website for the gauntlet – it would have no direct correlation, however, i am sure ms ross would get a rise out of it.

Absolutely yes. John and Shane’s ideas are great. I’d love to see a weekly dose of Blankenship magic.

It’s awesome exercise to come up with creative ideas, but you’ve got to let some go; else people just end up with this closet full of things they haven’t followed through on. Gotta have the sketchbook, but you can’t make every little doodle a masterpiece.
