I'm a curious, creative, Southern boy working in Anderson, SC. My corner of the internet is brought to life thanks to friendly cowboys at Eleven2 Hosting. If you're new here, you might be interested in the RSS Feed or Archives. You can say hello via .
My name is Joshua Blankenship, and I am a brand loyalist. A connoisseur of highly functional, beautiful things. Bags, jeans, toothbrushes, water bottles, pens, whiskey, guitar strings, and so on and so forth. If a thing is worth having, it’s worth having the best of it (that you can wisely afford.) And if there is a category of thing, I likely have an opinion on where to find the best of it.
So when my left coast friend Noah Stokes asked if I would be interested in collaborating on a site for like-minded brand loyalists, I jumped at the chance to handle design and branding. And when he started throwing out ideas about sharing our process for the project with our respective readers while we were still in the process, I got even more excited.
And so we begin humbly with the easy part: a name, a URL, a logo and a loose tagline to help serve as a mission while we start putting our money where our (collective) mouth is.
Noah has a great write-up on the beginnings of this idea here. If you don’t already, subscribe to Noah’s RSS Feed and my RSS feed to stay up to date on bbbbrands, and be sure to follow @bbbbrands on Twitter for other updates.
Since you guys are starting from ground zero I’d suggest starting with something simple where users can display a list of brands they are loyal too (and recommend) for different products/categories. A good example of this would be Jakob Lodwick’s brands page (http://jakoblodwick.com/brands/) which contains lists for him and some of his friends. Is that the kind of thing you guys are shooting for? You could expand on this by generating data about popularity of brands for different products even down to the % of users claim a certain brand.
That’s my quick two cents. …back to work.

You could leave out the “brands” in the tag; it is unnecessary, I think. Hallmark didn’t need to add “cards” to its tag…you just knew…”When you care enough to send the very best.”

Oops…forgot to comment…terrific idea!!
Drop downs for large categories like Services, Clothing, Food, Beverages, etc.,
then item specific within could be helpful for the detail/picky folk.
It could be helpful to have Regional Categories if you are going to get into Travel…
Mail Order/Craig’s/E-Bay etc as a separate to address that type of industry
A way for users to add comments/ratings to various categories would be interesting as long as they could be edited!
Oh the micro-thinking!!

I think I agree with Mama Dalton on the tagline. Also, my favorite part of FFFFound, pictures! I’d want to see the brand logo as/in my list.

There is no way I don’t want to keep up with and be a part of this. Don’t know if it helps, but I, too, agree on the issue of the tagline. Simplicity will do you well, after all, isn’t that where branding is headed anyway?
