Who Should You Vote For? gives you relevant topics like healthcare, foreign policy, taxes, etc. to agree or disagree with, then tells you which candidate best lines up with your issue beliefs. My results were polarizing for sure, though there’s still a good bit I don’t have an educated opinion on. (via Sarah Hatter)
Quote, “The concert system is, as far as I’m concerned, totally broken and stupid.” Garrett Murray offers some reasons why going to live shows just ain’t what it used to be. I’d love to hear some solutions, because I love music, but I rarely go to shows anymore.
President Bartlet Meets Senator Obama courtesy of (of-course-biased) The West Wing creator/writer Aaron Sorkin and the NY Times. We’re just into Season 4 of said show, but I’m amazed Sorkin can still write Bartlet so in character.
Oh well, I thought about shying away from political commentary here, but it’s gotten so bizarre, I feel the need to at least poke it with a stick. Katie Couric interviews Sarah Palin on the current economic situation and it’s downright laughable how uninformed she is. And by “laughable” I of course mean “scary.” Do with that what you will.
Quote, “This is a hamburger from McDonalds that I purchased in 1996. That was 12 years ago. Note that it looks exactly like it did the very day I bought it.”
The upcoming Canon EOS 5D MKII also shoots full resolution 1080p video. Photographer Vincent Laforet took a prototype out for a spin and the results are stellar for a $2700 camera, especially in low light conditions. With Canon and Nikon both moving into this space, it’ll be an interesting next few months.
I’d embed the video, but I won’t subject you to auto-playing anything. Dancer David Elsewhere doing his thing for a Motorola campaign. Highly enjoyable.
It took approximately two minutes for me to become hopelessly addicted to image bookmarking site Ffffound! You can see the images I’m finding inspiring at /blankenship or snag my RSS Feed.
For the most consistently well-edited (and I mean that in an editorial sense) collection of current news and events photography on the web, make a habit of visiting The Boston Globe’s The Big Picture. Alan Taylor does an amazing job of making it the go-to spot for great imagery. For example: Hurricane Ike and the 2008 Summer Paralympic Games.
Quote, “The only thing I want to hear come out of [Matt] Damon’s mouth is ‘What is Tredstone?’” says YouTube commenter chilltownbraves in reply to this video of Damon condemning VP-nominee Sarah Palin. I find it interesting that the kneejerk reaction to actors speaking out politically is typically “well, who are they to say?” I also find it interesting that I simultaneously kinda agree with Damon and also love a YouTube comment poking fun at him.
I’ve been playing with Wufoo this morning to create some quick web forms. I can’t recall the last time I enjoyed using a web app so much that I upgraded to the paid version almost immediately. Great UI, customer service, pricing structure, reporting, CSS customization, API, etc. and it’s all super-flexible.
The upcoming Nikon D-90 SLR will shoot 24 frames per second at 720p resolution. The thought of being able to use lenses I love (like my 50mm ƒ/1.4 or 135mm ƒ/2.8) to shoot decent video on a $1000 camera is quite attractive. Wired has a write up and video of Chase Jarvis and crew testing the D-90.
