Friendster was a way to meet people that was a modest improvement upon approaching strangers on the street or fishing for sluts at a bar or not meeting anyone at all. Friendster’s descendants offer, at best, tangential improvements, and, at worst, heavy confusion. No social network makes it easy to represent yourself, as an individual, on the web. They are good at helping you represent yourself as an entry in some database-system.
