Oscars Shmoscars
Here’s a complete list of last night’s Oscar Winners.
A few things:
- It’s hard out there for a pimp.
- Crash won best picture, which was a surprise.
- Phillip Seymour Hoffman won best actor for Capote, which is a glorious thing. (Though it is interesting that the best actor and actress awards both went to people playing real people. Surreal.)
- I know it makes me painfully un-hip, but I really don’t find Jon Stewart funny. If he didn’t have the Bush Administration to make fun of (and honestly, how difficult of a comedic target are they?) he wouldn’t be hosting the Oscars.
- Amy Adams should have won best supporting actress.
- Eric Bana is Australian? And has an accent? How did I miss that?
- I’m still sort of in shock that the Brokeback Mountain score won. It was BY FAR the least interesting music that was nominated. You can talk about it’s beautiful simplicity all you want, but that music bores me to no end, especially up against either of John Williams’ nominated scores this year.
