Upcoming Cinematic Potential

Mmm… good movies abound on the horizon.

  • Sketches of Frank Gehry – Candid insight into an architectural genius? Yes, please.
  • Leonard Cohen I’m Your Man – I’m sucked in by the trailer… I can’t wait for the actual movie. If you don’t own any Leonard Cohen albums, start with Recent Songs. He might just change your life.
  • A Prairie Home Companion – Garrison Keillor, I love you.
  • Down In The Valley – We haven’t seen Edward Norton since his turn as the leper king in Kingdom of Heaven (which means we haven’t technically seen him since ’03 in The Italian Job) but this looks fantastic.
  • The King – William Hurt is doing amazing work lately.
  • The Proposition – Colonial-Australia cowboy revenge movie written by Nick Cave? How can this not be thoroughly dark, brooding, poetic, and great?
  • Mouth to Mouth – Ellen Page is suddenly everywhere. Being wonderful.
  • 300 – Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae where King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Much like Sin City, 300 will be all virtual backgrounds and live action. The video journals are what’s for awesome.
